Chemical Composition of Duplex S32205
The S32205 alloy has 22 to 23 % of chromium, 3 to 3.5 % of molybdenum, 0.14 to 0.20 % of nickel, 4.50 to 5.50 % of nickel, 0.030 % of phosphorus, 0.020 % of sulfur and 0.20 to 0.70 % of sulfur. The remainder is ferritic (iron) Duplex S32205 has a somewhat larger proportion of trace elements in comparison to S31803.

Corrosion resistance of Duplex Steels UNS S31803-UNS S32205
The duplex steels offer best-in-class corrosion resistance to a range of corrosive substances and media, and can well resist crevice corrosion, intergranular pitting and other kinds of marine and process corrosions. These steel grades can also resist the stress corrosion cracking, which is caused by the chloride ions at high temperatures. The grades hold well in industrial environments where other austenitic grades often fail.
Heat Resistance
The duplex steels offer good oxidation resistance at even the highest of temperatures. Thermal treatment cannot harden the grade, but work can.
